This project was about Physical Computing, which means control media while using an old system. For this project, it was needed to create that “machine’s” basics by both physical way and digital way. I have to say it was also a new technology for me. I had to find tutorials and looked at the introduction book and then start. Programming for this project plays a vital role. From doing this project, I have gained how to match the lines, the function of different jacks and also programming skills have been improved. That was an interesting project and I had lots of fun while doing that.
Some more reflections about practice 1—Narrative and control project
It was interesting to learn a new software while doing a new project. For this project, I used scratch although I was a noob and did not know much about it. For the strange software, searching tutorial videos are the most important for me. From the videos, they showed how to create characters and also showed how to control characters. That could be interesting to learn. After watching the tutorials, I started to do the project step by step. Although there were some problems which doing the project, it was fun to do. If I could have more time during that time, I think I would create more simple games by using Scratch.
Some more reflections about practice 1—Scanning Project- Virtual Reality-make it real
For this assignment was to create a 3D model and print in by using the 3D printer. It was interesting to compare the physical and digital world and also to observe their relationship. At the beginning of the first term, we had visited lots of technology rooms which include 3D room. There were several different sizes 3D printer and I was expected to use them. This was the chance to create my own 3D model. However, doing 3D model in the software was different for me. I could only find the tutorial videos online and started to learn how to make the 3D model. During the period of doing Scanning Project, I have gained the skill of doing 3D model and gained the experience of using the 3D printer. That was a great experience.
Some more reflections about practice 1—Scanning Project- What is DMA
For this project, the topic is about “What is DMA” for us. For me, DMA is the like the air which is around. As the development of society, technology is increasingly popular especially Digital Media. Why I said DMA is like air is because, in this modern society, people are unlikely to ignore their computers and phones, that is the way DMA broadcast. Even some people could drop them, the advertisement from street screen could also affect them more or less. So that it reminded me media is made by software and Softwares are made by codes. Then I started to search software’ logo and would like to animate them. This was my basic idea. In the present day, that could be magic because classmates presented several different ideas. One of the ideas was document the history of DMA. From her presentation, I gradually understand history is an indispensable factor for the development of DMA. Also, after that class, I searched the history as well, that was great to know.
Some more reflection about practice 1—self-portrait project
For this project, I was presenting myself by my belongings and use the environment around me to present. In my understanding, I think self-portrait photography is not only about photo ourselves, nut also can use our belonging to present. To some ways, the belonging people have is likely to present their interests and their hobbies and habits may also be analyzed. For this idea, I was looking the stuff which could present me most. I remembered we had presentation before doing another project. In the class, classmates show different skills to present self-portrait which amazed me. Actually, doing presentation is quiet a nice way for me to gain more knowledge form both tutors and classmates. And also, that could stimulate my imagination.

This is my bedroom, from the bed aspect, as we can see there is cartoon cover and pillowcase. Because when I was a child I have read some fairy tale. I yearn this kind of life, which is the simple life, there are no lie, no conflict. So that, I have chosen this style to decorate my bed, when I from outside comeback room, this atmosphere can let me feel relax.
From this photo I want to introduce my habit, we can see in the bed it is very simple just have a “pig”, this my habit. For example, when I get alone I prefer to have cloth dolls inside me, which can give me a sense of security, in my heart, like someone accompany with me, let me go to deeply sleep.
When I first time came to the U.K, because far away from the home, I was feeling alone and I was twice as homesick on the festivals. This “elephant” is my friend as a gift sent to me when I celebrate the birthday, he wishes this cloth dolls can accompany with me, enable me not feel alone, so which is very important for me.
4. The guitar is a significant part of my life, I am into play the guitar. In my daily life, I was very busy because I have a lot of projects to do and sometimes I have encountered some problem, i will feeling heavy pressure, in this time, I will choose to play the guitar because this can let me forget trouble and release my pressure.
5. Take this photo is I want to introduce I am preferred to cooking. In the weekend, I will to make some dishes and invite friends to eat the lunch. And when I am free, I will study different dishes, when I achieve that, I will feel a sense of achievement. Because I think from our life to eat some delicious foods is very important.
6. I have posted some poster on the window because this can change the scenery when I looked out of the window, let me feel the scene on the outside is more beautiful, and I like this feeling. Sometimes I prefer to site ahead of the window and thinking some things, which will let me feel calmer.

When I take this picture, the aim of this is I prefer to use a camera to record every little detail and little things in my life because I though this is a meaningful thing, this will be interesting things when I recall the past time.
14. This is my dining-table, because I do not have enough money to buy wine cabinet, so I just decorated with the posters to stick these together. Although there is just the small place, I still hope to have a feeling like a canteen, maybe I am a romantic person, I think the feeling for me is significant.
15. Since to coming to the UK, I have into to buy some cloth dolls. Because in my heart, I think to have them will let me not feel alone. In fact, I am more like a pet, but the apartment stipulate can not have a pet in the apartment and also I do not have more time to take care the pet, so I have to buy a lot of cloth dolls to substitute pet.

During last week, I have created the actor Brown(bird), Gray(plane) and Black(bomb,trap), also I made 3 levels’ labyrinth.
The Brown(bird)
The Brown is a bird, in the design, I set different angles of Brown with the purpose of make animation while setting it in the game. That may make the game alive.
The Gray(plane)
Similar to The Brown, The Gray has the different view from different angles as well. Differently, it would not change the action when going to one direction.
The Black(bomb,trap)
The Black(bomb) is the trap in the game, I set this in order to make the game a little bit difficult than formal level and improve players’ interest.
The process of level 1 scene
This scene is about the road, which is wide roads, I set this as the first level is because the less road and wide roads in the level maybe that is easy to finish this level. Also, the level is from easy to difficult, if players fail the first level, they are likely to give up to play it.
The process of level 2 scene
This level is made by using trees and makes it looks like the forest. At the beginning, I use regular trees to fill the lines, however, it looks like regular, and the pattern of trees is like the arrow and lead players to the end point. In this level, I would put some traps which can not move in some corner in this scene in order to make this level more difficult than the first one. If the actor touch the traps, this level would restart again.
The process of level 3 scene
Level 3 is about the the cloud, pass the cloud and win the game. However, at this level, the end point is just below the start point which is quite interesting. At this level, the move traps will be set. As the map is fulfilling the screen and looks small. In this case, I would zoom in the space where the actor is, so that at this level, is more about memory, remember the road players played and find out the way to win this game.
self-portrait project 3
From last week, I started to do projects. In self-portrait project, I observed my stuff carefully and started to take photos.
There are some examples I have took, as we can see, some examples above are the same scene. Although take a photo may only use one second, if not observe carefully, that could be the wrong photo. By what I researched, the light, the angle, a tripod are quite important while taking interior photos. I tried to separate the time to take photos, in the day time and some of the examples were taking from nighttime. Some scenes like the window, if I photo it at night, with the light, I found I am included in the frame because of the reflect in the windows so that my solution was to take another group of photos at daytime and I can compare the quality of photos.
In addition, in this week, I have created a simple interior space in sketch up.
I did this in order to see the effect of combining digital photography and physical photography.

I have searched some artists’ maze, that was amazing.
This is a common animal, but Rob use of patterns and textures helps attract the viewer’s eye into the mazes he creates and from different angle to look at this work, it show 3d effect to some extent.
This work is made by David Milar, he creates mazes as puzzles and uses an uncommon image which means he has special imagination.
This piece of work captivating in the scale and craftsmanship, and these qualities draw people in and encourage people to consider Cook’s imagery and its possible meanings.
This piece of work is called open mind, it combines the lines in the brain and in 3d effect which makes me feel impressive.
This work is named feature a bee, it is the last maze which Stan Herd have done. He combines the nature and artist together and makes the work looks real.
Those are park of works I have looked at, most of the works I researched are about art maze. From then, I still believe game can be art and art is including games.

This week, I have done some research about interior photography. I find some tips on how to take interior photography. Let me simplified those tips. The first tip is that go and stand in the corner, because standing in the corners is likely to give people the widest perspective of the interior before people, and also allow people to capture more of what makes it special. The second one is that straighten self out, that because if the lens is tilted slightly up or down the lines will be going diagonally, providing an unwanted distraction to the viewer and detracting from the impact of the interior. The interior will appear to be falling away or tipping towards the viewer. The third tip is that use the aperture. The depth of field is an important tool in the interior photographer’s arsenal. If there is some unwanted detail in the background of the shot, people could always blur it out with a smaller f-stop. Alternatively, if people are shooting a grand space you might want a smaller aperture to make sure the entirety of the scene is in sharp focus. That is why need uses the arsenal. If people want a crisp, clear and professional looking photograph of the interior, make sure use a tripod. A blurred image will not only make the photographer look like an amateur but the interior designer will suffer from your mistake as well, that is why we should not trust our hands. In the interior space, there may not have enough light, that is possible to effect the quality. From the research, I notice what is necessary tool and way to take interior photography.
